Orion’s second service offers specialist preparation for making the transition into the Financial Services sector. This takes the form of a training course for all service leavers, designed by ex-service officers that have subsequently been successful in the City, focused entirely at the military fraternity.
The course will give an insight into ‘the City’ and educate attendees more precisely on the variety and differing nature of roles that exist. In addition, Orion creates opportunities for attendees to meet ex-service men and women who have successfully made the transition to ‘city life’.
There will also be the opportunity to visit and tour an Investment Bank to gain first hand experience into the working environment of such organisations.
“By utilising the strong teamwork and communication skills I learnt in the forces, coupled with the discipline and flexibility that are ingrained into you as part and parcel of a Services career, I have been able to work my way up from an entry level Clerk in Operations to become a Managing Director and Partner in a major Global Broking House. Promotion and rewards within the financial sector are meritorious. Operations is a perfect arena for highly motivated, professional driven individuals.”
(Former Naval Submariner – Head of International Operations Investment Bank)
“Army officers bring a huge range of skills to the table. They are adaptable, reliable, flexible and used to working in highly pressurised situations. In no other business arena will you find individuals who change jobs completely every two years, from the intricacies of a military/political role to commanding a tank squadron with only a sheet of A4 as a handover!
Many aspects of military thinking are directly applicable to business life. Action plans, situation reports and combat estimates all have their MBA equivalents. Without knowing it military officers bring a great deal of process and procedure to a business, vitally underpinned by initiative and individual thought.”
(Former Army Officer – Executive Director, Financial Markets Executive Search)
